Full DV

The basic requirement for this level of editing is a DV camcorder, a suitably powerful computer with plenty of hard drive space, plenty of memory and a Fire Wire (IEEE 1394) port or capture card. You will also need software capable of importing DV encoded video footage to allow editing and manipulation.

You will also need a means by which to publish or copy the material either to VHS tape, back to a MiniDV tape or onto DVD or CD.

It is very useful to have a camera that can import edited video back from the computer. For this it will need a DV in facility as well as DV out. Without this functionality it is very difficult to make full quality back-ups of the finished video.
